Computational Design | Mixed Reality Fabrication
Silvan Seraphic is an experimental architectural project exploring the intersection of computational design, AI-generated form, and mixed reality construction. The project began with Google Colab and Python-based scripts to generate point cloud geometries, which were further refined using AI tools to manipulate spatial logic and form development within a digital environment.
Using 3D scanning technology, a material library of locally sourced wooden logs—the project’s primary material—was created. These scanned elements were then modeled in Rhino and integrated into the point cloud architecture, allowing a direct dialogue between digital generation and physical matter.
The project culminated in a mixed reality construction workflow, led under the mentorship of architect Gwyllim Jahn, founder of Fologram. Using Microsoft HoloLens and the Fologram platform, the digitally generated architecture was translated into physical space, enabling real-time augmented assembly directly from the point cloud models.
Silvan Seraphic is a study in hybrid craftsmanship, challenging the boundaries between natural materiality, machine intelligence, and human intuition. It positions architecture as a real-time negotiation between the virtual and the tangible.
